The first of a series of YouTube videos which offer valuable insight into cryo-preservation, it's pros and cons, it's potential, reasons why you might consider cryo-preservation for yourself, and the science involved behind the process.

| http://cryonics.forumcircle.com/ is the (very) new forum for Cryonics UK (CUK), a non-profit organisation which aims to provide assistance as necessary to those within the UK who wish for their body to be cryopreserved upon "death". The inverted commas around the word "death" here are intentional. Primarily, the forum aims to provide information about cryonics, (science, legalities, financing a cryo-preservation contract, trust funds etc). Membership of the forum is free, and seems to be open to anyone with an interest in the subject. Cryonics UK: http://www.cryonics-uk.com/ | |

| Back from a trip to Birkenhead. My main purpose in going was to pick up this month’s copy of Writers’ Forum as my friend Tim Hulme’s story, The Trunk in Grannie’s Attic, won him first place in this magazine’s monthly competition, plus a prize of £300. This story began life as one of Riverside Writers’ set projects.
Also wanted was a new “Beware of the Dog” sign for the front door. You’d have thought I was asking for a rare item. I wound up with an iffy laminated sign to prop up in the window. It’ll do for now but it is not what I had in mind. Even though we have a wall-mounted mail box clearly marked "Mail", every so often some rash soul risks their fingers by posting items through the door. Emily enjoys shredding stuff.
Will we be on 7 Waves Radio on Friday? As our host Cath Bore is no longer at this community radio station, we don’t know if her successor wishes to continue having Riverside Writers live on air. I only learned this yesterday, which cuts things a bit fine. When I have news, I’ll pass it on.
Work on The Karens continues. This is (definitely!) a Sci-Fi story, plot-driven, based on a theme of cloning from DNA.
A relative of mine--who will remain nameless--viewed the cryonics article in The Daily Mail. Over the phone, she asked me, “But wouldn’t you mind being kept floating in a glass tank in your underwear for all to see?” Ah, that would be the image taken from a Sci-Fi film; the reality differs somewhat.

| It’s a gorgeous spring day here. I’ve got the French doors open, and Emily has dragged her blanket onto the patio step to stretch out on it while she’s sunbathing. The forsythia is a blaze of yellow, and cherry blossom is drifting like snowflakes on the warm breeze. Daffodils and crocus are in bloom everywhere, and there’s a pair of blackbirds rummaging for nesting material underneath the shrubby St John’s wort.
Yesterday I was in Liverpool as Kevin Holt, a photographer from The Daily Mail, had arranged to visit Richard’s studio so he could take a few shots of us both. These will be used as part of an article about cryonics which will published in that newspaper, probably next week sometime.
Afterwards I had a meander round the city centre, and bought a new pair of trousers--plain black, but the material is lovely and soft. I want a black top to go with it, something very dressy to off-set the plain black, but found nothing I wanted.
I had a peek at several shoe shops, too, which was amusing. What’s with all these stack shoes with 10” heels? Being 5’ 2” tall, 10” heels would make me look as if I was teetering on stilts.
